March Madness Day 29 - Coffee Table

It's day #29 of March Madness, are you sick of all these posts yet?  Don't worry it will be over soon and then we can all go back to our regular scheduled programing.  

I love the Annie Sloan color Coco.  It's a gray and a tan all in one..... a warm gray.... a perfect neutral for all those people that shy away from color.  I painted the coffee table that I got a few weeks ago in Coco.  

I'm really looking for a color to paint my dining room table so this was a good testing piece for if I want Coco or Linen White or Florence or Emperors Silk or Old Ochre......

Here is the coffee table before painting.  

This table is HEAVY, sturdy and a great piece with the lower shelf.

A bit of distressing, clear wax and a small amount of dark wax on the areas that would have naturally gotten dirty/worn.  

Our new furniture still has not arrived so I'll have to wait to decide how this color looks with the new couch.  

Then I need new pillows, new rug and a new blanket.  Oh and I should get my window done for above the family shelf so I can hang that back up.

March Madness Day 16 - Arrow Bookcase

Children have lots of special books and mom's are always looking for fun ways to put them in their rooms.

The before shot once again.

I love hand painted arrows, nothing planned or pre-drawn for this girl.  Just grab a brush and some paint and hope for the best.  

The shelf is painted with Annie Sloan Coco, arrow is Annie Sloan Barcelona Orange.  A bit of distressing and Annie Sloan Clear Wax.  

I added a bit of Annie Sloan dark wax in a couple spots to bring out the texture in the oak wood.

It really is gorgeous, the Coco with the oak wood and the pop of orange.   

It's ready for a little boy or a little girls special books.  

My grandchildren would need a whole wall of these for their special good night books.

March Madness Day 6 - Key and Mail Hanger

A few weeks back I shared one of my weekly finds, here it is again in it's before stage.

And I must say it's beautiful in the after.  Painted in a cream/brown..... Annie Sloan didn't disappoint.  It's a mixture of Coco and Old Ochre, they are both amazing colors.  After a little distressing I finished it off with Annie Sloan clear and dark wax

Stenciled a Old Ochre skeleton key and added a few hooks.

An amazing transformation for being pretty and functional.

Coco tray with fun legs

While asking a question "what's your favorite color and do you decorate your house with it?" during the paint class I learned that most people don't have a lot of color in their houses.  They might have blue as a favorite color but they don't have any blue in their house.  The most common color they decorate with is tan/brown/neutrals.  I find that interesting, I might like those colors and have them in my furniture/floors/walls but I need color most of the time.  So since I had a gift certificate for Annie Sloan Chalk Paint that was going to expire I picked up a quart of Coco which is a tan/brown.  

I started with this silver tray with fun legs.  It was okay silver but what's to lose with painting it?

Painted it Coco with clear and dark wax gives it a new life.  The detail is more noticeable and his legs....... oh the legs...... are beautiful.  

I piled it full of my coasters made from a white birch log painted with Amy Howard Chalk Paint for that color I need.

I do really like the Coco and could see it used on a larger piece of furniture.

When Chalk Paint is used on the inside of a bowl or try it's not recommended for food.  This tray can be used for any non-food items or wrapped food items.  

Just load it up with the coasters and show off the legs.
